    Ms. Glodt shared information regarding Hurricane Deck Elementary students’ recent service project with donations going to Share the Harvest.  Ms. Glodt also announced that Hurricane Deck Elementary has been named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School due to their outstanding results in school and student outcomes through implementation of the Leader in Me.

     

     

    RECOGNITION OF STUDENT ADVISOR

    Tara Poole was recognized for her outstanding service as a Student Advisor to the Board of Education throughout the past year.

    CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH & STUDENT AND STAFF RECOGNITIONS

    Debi Mashek was announced as the May Classified Employee of the Month.  She has been with the District since 1995.  Debi is the head cook at Dogwood Elementary. 

     

    Student and staff recognitions were announced as follows:

    ·         Chloie Freeman, Abby Brauer, and Daphne Dinsdale are finalists for the State Fair Community College Distinguished Writers Award.

    ·     CHS Science Research continues to achieve phenomenal success.  Olivia Kline, Drew Ellefsen, Kallie Davis, and Pierce Taylor recently attended National Symposium in San Diego, California, with Pierce Taylor earning 3rd for his Poster Presentation.

    ·         Middle Schoolers Will Rogers and Tyler Ames presented at the Missouri Junior Academy of Science Competition hosted by Lindenwood University.

    ·         Scott Keeney took a group of 12 students to the district Technology Education Association of Missouri competition.

    ·         Tyler Peery and Marcos Garcia qualified for the state competition on May 8th and 9th at Tan Tara.

    ·        Mia Walters, Kaylin Galey, and Ryan Lemay won Best Overall Design at the 2017 iBuild competition in Kansas City.  The District took a total of nine projects to the competition which had over 1,000 middle school students from the Kansas City metro and St. Joseph areas.  The iBuild Showcase is an annual exposition which brings students together for an opportunity to connect with industry professionals. Students learn how they might choose their fields of endeavor. This program demonstrates careers that are connected to the construction industry including skilled craftsmen, architects, engineers, CAD technicians, marketing, accounting, construction managers, etc.

    ·         On May 17, our CHS graduating seniors will go to Dogwood to inspire our littlest Lakers. The seniors will wear their caps and gowns and will walk through the hall to receive high fives and hugs from our young students. Also, our preschool ‘seniors’ will be walking with our CHS grads. After the walk, Preschool graduation will be held in the gym.

    ·         Robotics competed at Worlds at the end of April.  Our students performed very well and made Laker Nation proud.  Grace Law, an OBE student, was asked to speak at the opening ceremonies.  She spoke in front of 35,000 attendees.

    ·         Joi…what a wonderful Elegant Evening!  Then she spoke to the Lake Presbyterian Church which donated $5,400 for Buddy Packs.  Also, special thanks to Andrea Rhoades, Julie Evans, Elaine Mallahan, Kerry, Scott, Nate and the maintenance department for their efforts with Elegant Evening.

    ·        Camdenton High School was named by US News and World Report as one of the Top 40 High Schools in Missouri.  This is based on academic proficiency in Math and Comm Arts as well as AP testing.

    Trish Creach, Executive Director of the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce, addressed the Board thanking the District for their support of the Dogwood Festival.

    D.  Approve Expenditures for CC & Dorothy Blair Trust

                    In April the Education Foundation approved a Resolution for a request of five percent of the market value of the CC and Dorothy Blair Trust as of March 31, 2017, ($22,083.24) to fund activities.  Proposed expenditures for the CC & Dorothy Blair Trust were presented for approval.

                    Used bus bids were presented as well as those recommended for acceptance.

    NEW BUSINESS 

    SET CERTIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE FOR 2017-2018

    A recommended salary schedule for 2017-2018 was presented along with insurance information and proposed administrative salaries.  The Board approved the recommendations regarding certified staff, the proposed 2017-2018 Salary Schedule, benefits, and building administrative salaries as recommended, tabling central office administration.

    CONSIDERATION OF 2017-2018 CLASSIFIED STAFF SALARY AND BENEFIT PACKAGE

    Dr. Hadfield made a recommendation to establish classified staff benefits and a pay package for 2017-2018.  A 2.0% increase in salary for current classified employees was approved as recommended.

       LAUNCH MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

    The Launch MOU would establish a partnership between Camdenton R-III and Springfield R-12 School Districts to provide our students access to online courses not currently available to them.  The term of this MOU is for 2017-18 and 2018-19.   The Board approved the Launch Memorandum of Understanding as presented.

    This is an opportunity for the Board to report on upcoming meetings, meetings attended, registrations, and deadlines.  The following items were discussed.

    ·         Board Activity Calendar

    ·         Volunteer Appreciation Dinner – May 15, 2017, 6:00-8:00 p.m., Camdenton High School

    ·         Graduation, May 18th, 8:00 p.m.

    ·         Second May Board Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017, 11:00 at the High School  (End of Year Assembly)

    ·         End-of-Year Activities, Tuesday, May 23rd.  Wellness Clinic from 7:30-10:30 in the HS Auxiliary Gym.  Brunch at 10:30 in the High School Commons, assembly begins at noon in the RC Worthan Auditorium.

    ·         MSBA Leadership Summit, June 2-4, 2017, Tan-Tar-A.  Registration information is attached.  Will register attendees on Friday, May 26th.

    ·         Education Foundation – Educator Scholarship applications due June 9, 2017.

    ·         June Board Meeting Reports tentatively include:  Guidance & Counseling Report, Activities Review, School Climate/Discipline Report, and Energy Education Report.

    EXECUTIVE SESSION

    In compliance with State Statute 610.021 (closed meetings and closed records), the Board went into Executive Session for the following purposes:

    1)     Leasing, purchase or sale of real estate by a public governmental body (610.021)(2).

    2)     Hiring, firing, disciplining, or promoting particular employees (610.021)(3).

    3)     Individually identifiable personnel records, performance ratings, or records pertaining to employees (610.021)(13).

    The Board approved the recommended 2017-2018 central office administrative salaries at a 2% increase and modified the recommendation for the superintendent’s increase from a 1.14% increase to a 2.0% increase.
