Highlights of Board of Education Special Meeting

EXECUTIVE SESSION

The Board went into Executive Session for the following purposes:

1)    Leasing, purchase or sale of real estate by a public governmental body (610.021)(2).

2)    Hiring, firing, disciplining, or promoting particular employees (610.021)(3).

3)     Individually identifiable personnel records, performance ratings, or records pertaining to employees (610.021)(13).

APPROVE BILLS

The bills were approved as presented.

DISTRICT INSURANCE UPDATE

Insurance representatives were present and provided an insurance update.

NEW BUSINESS

           SET CERTIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE FOR 2016-2017

A recommended salary schedule for 2016-2017 was presented along with insurance information and proposed administrative salaries.  The proposed 2016-2017 salary schedule, benefits, revised Regulation GCBA-R and administrative salaries were approved.

CONSIDERATION OF 2016-2017 CLASSIFIED STAFF SALARY AND BENEFIT PACKAGE

Budgetary issues were reviewed and Dr. Hadfield made a recommendation to establish classified staff benefits and a pay package for 2016-2017.  A 2.5% increase in salary for current classified employees was recommended.  The Board approved the 2016-2017 classified staff benefits and pay package with a 2.5% increase in salaries as recommended.

This is an opportunity for the Board to report on upcoming meetings, meetings attended, registrations, and deadlines.

·         Teacher of the Year/Educator of the Year Banquet - May 3, 6:30 p.m., Inn at the Grand Glaize.  Who is planning to attend?

·         No reports in May.  June Board Meeting Reports tentatively include:  School Climate/Discipline Report, Guidance & Counseling Report, Energy Education Report

·         Graduation, May 19th, 8:00 p.m.

·         End-of-Year Assembly, Tuesday, May 24th.  Brunch at 10:30 in the High School Commons, assembly begins at noon in the RC Worthan Auditorium.

·         MSBA Leadership Summit, June 3-5, 2016, Tan-Tar-A

·         Board Goals Committee – Laura, Tom and Courtney will plan to meet prior to the next Board meeting.
