    A+ PROGRAM/SCHOOL TO WORK REPORT

Lisa Black-Schwandt, A+ Coordinator, reported on the A+ Program and the School to Work Program for the 2011-2012 school year.  Participation in the A+ Program continues to grow.  The A+ Program changed from a program overseen by DESE to a program now overseen by the Department of Higher Education.  Higher Ed has tied A+ eligibility to a student’s performance not only on the traditional components of grade point, citizenship, and mentoring, but now also in advanced or proficient score on the Algebra I EOC.  There are some proposed changes that students who may score below these levels on the Algebra EOC may earn their eligibility back by scoring advanced or proficient on a Geometry or Algebra II exam or achieve some minimum score on the Compass Test or the ACT math component.  The Algebra I EOC component begins with the class of 2015.
