    Executive Session

    In compliance with State Statute 610.021 (closed meetings and closed records), the Board went into Executive Session for the following purposes:

    1)    Legal actions, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body and any confidential or privileged communications between a public governmental body or its representatives and its attorneys (610.021)(1).

    2)    Lease, purchase, or sale of real estate (610.021)(2).

    3)       Hiring, firing, disciplining, or promoting particular employees (610.021)(3).

    4)       Individually identifiable personnel records, performance ratings or records pertaining to employees (610.021)(13).

     

    Ancillary Products and Health Insurance

    The Board reviewed information regarding voluntary insurance products for staff along with information regarding Board-paid life insurance.  The Board approved ancillary product offerings as presented.

     

    Set Certified Salary Schedule for 2012-2013 & Modify Additional Credit Hour Requirements

    Administrators and the Salary Committee have met.  A recommended salary schedule for 2012-2013 was presented along with proposed administrative salaries.  Mr. Hadfield reviewed budget information and recommendations regarding the certified staff salary schedule including:

     

    ·                      Recognize movement along the salary schedule.

    ·                      Recognize an additional step vertically on the salary schedule.

    ·                      No increase on base salary on the salary schedule.

    ·                      Continue funding regarding the sick leave reimbursement policy.

    ·                      Continue medical and life insurance benefits provided by the District.

    ·                      Table Career Ladder funding until final assessed valuation numbers and state funding numbers are established.

    ·                      Increase sponsorship and coaching stipends by 1.4%.

     

    Also, placing a moratorium on the practice of freezing staff members on the salary schedule if they do not pick up eight hours of credit within each five-year interval as required by GCBA-R, Professional Staff Salary Schedules was recommended.

     

    The Board approved the 2012-2013 salary schedule as recommended, approved the proposed 2012-2013 administrative salaries, and placed a moratorium on the practice of freezing staff members on the salary schedule if they do not pick up eight hours of credit within each five-year interval as required by GCBA-R, Professional Staff Salary Schedules.

     

    Other

    ·         MSBA’s Spring Region 8 meeting will be held on April 18, 2012.

    ·         Jackie Schulte will serve on the Teacher of the Year interview committee.
